Join Justin Lang and Kristen Fogle for an exciting experiment in Zoom theater. From page to stage, if you’re a writer/director wanting to hone your craft, or looking for a fun challenge and practical pedagogy to use while working with actors, this is your opportunity.
If you're an actor who wants to create a piece from ground up that features your strengths and talents, this series gives you a unique opportunity to collaborate with playwrights to develop a One Act play written specifically for you and your castmates!

In Week 1, actors will perform short “auditions” for writer/directors; actors will be picked and plays will be developed for them! Writers/directors then have two sessions to read and critique and submit a first draft; actors will get feedback on their auditions in Week 2 and read the drafts during Week 3. Weeks 4 - 6, during the first part of classes, actors will work with Justin on character development and choices, and writer/directors will work with Kristen on learning and implementing directing strategies. The two groups will meet and rehearse in breakout rooms. Week 7 is a full dress rehearsal of final performance. Week 8 is dedicated to “teching” the program. Week 9 actors will perform an original World Premiere for a live Zoom audience! All parties will participate in a talk back after the show.
Note
-Some reading on acting/directing may be assigned during the nine weeks. For writers, some online critiquing may be expected of members outside class time.
-Prerequisites: A previous acting or writing course is strongly recommended.
